EQ3 AUv3 plug-in is available in a time-limited Demo version for users to trial, offering 5 minutes of complimentary play time. The Demo period can be reset by reloading the plug-in. The unlimited version of the EQ3 AUv3 plug-in is accessible via an In-App Purchase.

In the 1980s, the EQ3 was an innovative departure from traditional analog equalizers. Unlike typical analog models that use bandpass boosts or cuts to adjust different sections of the audio spectra, the EQ3 achieves frequency shaping by summing bandpasses. The emulation stays true to this method while incorporating enhancements through digital technology, delivering an authentic yet technologically refined experience.

The EQ3 features broad, interacting bands at 10 (Sub), 40, 160, 650, and 2.5 kHz. Additionally, there is a 'rock (airy) band' control for HF boosting only.

When using the EQ3, it is vital to consider the broad overlapping bands that span approximately 2 octaves each. Adjustments have a cascading effect across neighboring bands to maintain a balanced response. Understanding this interaction allows users to fine-tune their sound for increased clarity and depth.

The EQ3 enables users to delve deep into their mixes with minimal phase distortion, offering unprecedented control over low-frequency responses. While mastering the intuitive adjustments may require some experimentation, the resulting enhancements in sound quality justify the learning curve.

To leverage the EQ3 as a plug-in, users must have an AUv3-compatible host application such as GarageBand, Auria, AUM, or Cubasis. The EQ3 can be easily accessed within the Audio Unit extensions for effect plug-ins in the selected host application.
